Lamonte Bethea is a Captain and Proficiency Check Airman for the FedEx Corporation, serving on the Boeing 757/767 fleet since April 2013. In addition to his aviation leadership, he is a Certified Field Trainer for financial professionals and has served as a financial architect for clients since July 2024.
Deeply committed to youth development and community service, Lamonte has volunteered as the Athletic Director for the Memphis Football League, overseeing programs from 8U through 8th grade. From 2014 to 2023, he also served as a head football coach for the town of Collierville, Tennessee, shaping young athletes both on and off the field.
Before transitioning to commercial aviation, Lamonte served in the United States Navy as a Naval Officer and Naval Aviator from 1994 to 2005. He accumulated more than 450 combat hours—and nearly 1,000 total flight hours—in the EA‑6B Prowler while supporting major operations including Allied Force (1999), Northern and Southern Watch (1999–2002), and Noble Freedom (2002). His military career took him to multiple duty stations across the country, reflecting a broad range of operational and leadership experience.
Lamonte is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
